As invented by me, [livejournal.com profile] the_night_wind and two-thirds of a bottle of port last Saturday night.

Drink whenever:
- Richard forgets about the whole urgent mission to save the world thing and goes off on a sidequest,
- Darken Rahl or one of his minions is surprisingly competent at Evil Overlording,
- Richard and/or Kahlan do something really daft,
- Richard leaps at something with a sword,
- Kahlan Confesses someone
- Zedd appears to be very, very stoned,
- Richard and/or Kahlan get tied up,
- Richard takes his shirt off,
- Kahlan takes her dress off,
- Richard and/or Kahlan disguise themselves as D'Haran troops, and look rather good doing so,
- Richard and Kahlan stumble across some kind of magic that will enable them to shag without magical repercussions, and then don't,
- Whoops, there is a Mord-Sith.

Frankly, I'm amazed we both still have livers.

If I had played this game when I watched through Legend of the Seeker I would have been dead before the end of the first season!

I did think it was a really rather entertaining show and it was a real shame it got cancelled. It hit just the right notes of quality randomness that has long been absent from television.

This game probably should come with a health warning to the effect that you should only attempt this for at most two episodes at a time...

I'm rather liking it. It's quite good at the silly fanservicey sword and sorcery thing. It's certainly much, much more entertaining than the books.

Maybe something about gratuitous use of slow-mo? They do throttle back on that for S2, though.

I am very fond of it, all the same. Silly as it undoubtedly was, Richard and Kahlan were sweet and very hot protagonists, Zedd was a kick-ass mentor, and then there was Cara. Good stuff.

I'm very fond of LotS myself - it fills the same kind of slot as Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. Not quite as good as Xena, but then Xena was something special.

I keep being astonished by how much better than the books it is. Better plotting, better pacing, better worldbuilding, more likeable characters... There's a post there in adapting bad books into good films/TV series, I think.

I am reminded of when I asked [livejournal.com profile] the_night_wind what he was supposed to be a "Seeker" of, exactly, and the reply was "sidequests".

[livejournal.com profile] the_night_wind also speculated that if Darken Rahl had ever found out about Richard's sidequest fixation, then he could have secured himself a long and successful reign just by hiring someone to set fire to orphanages in a circular pattern.
