Mmm, fanservice. Naked waterfall jumps FTW! Just a pity we didn't get to see Agent Zero with his shirt off. And they actually managed to make Gambit and his l33t Colossal Showoff skillz be cool, and gave him a vaguely sensible accent, which is more than the comics ever managed.

Terrible waste of a perfectly good Dominic Monaghan, mind you. Does this mean that we are getting the crashtastic joy of a Cable and Deadpool movie after all? Unexpected Patrick Stewart FTW also.

Points for attempting to subvert the Women in Refrigerators trope. Points subtracted for failing and playing it straight after all. Just once, it'd be nice to see a superhero's girlfriend respond to being kidnapped and menaced by a supervillain by developing her own superpowers and kicking his arse. Ah well.

Incidentally, does anyone know if John Wraith and Agent Zero were made up out of whole cloth for the movie, or if they're just really obscure characters in the comics? Also, Emma Silverfox - d'you reckon she's an alternative Emma Frost, or what?

So... yeah. Very silly, but I rather enjoyed it.

I did get around to looking this up. Wraith and Agent Zero both have previous canon form dating back at least fifteen years, although the latter at least has rather different abilities in the comics.

I continue to suspect that "Emma" is a version of Ms. Frost. Kayla does not seem to have had a sister in the comics, so the appearance of an attractive young blonde who both has the ability to give herself invulnerable skin and establishes a proleptic relationship with the youthful Cyclops seems to me to point strongly to an alternate version of our favourite psychic Marvel dominatrix. (Well, my favourite, anyway. And, to judge from the brio with which he writes her, probably Joss's as well.)
