Well, squirrels.

CoE was beautifully crafted, but damn depressing. There's a blog comment here that kind of sums up the way I feel about it. And yes, good art can be angsty, dark and grim can be worthwhile, etc... but there comes a point when it starts to feel a bit Diabolus ex Machina. There's only so much Dark Darkity Grim Dark Grim you can take in one go. Especially when most of the Torchwood fandom seems to be a bit like this right now:

So anyway, that's why I'm staying away from the Whoniverse right now, and looking for a fandom that's got a bit more in the way of fluffy bunnies. Where by "fluffy bunnies" I mean "cancer-riddled deranged dual-katana-wielding mercenaries and the angsty time-travelling overcomplicated-family-treed mutants with Messiah complexes who love them".

Well spotted, flist. I'm on a Cable and Deadpool kick. I have a shiny fandom that never stops bringing the crack, and also a shiny new OTP.

Anyway, C&DP related scans and other linkage:
1. Best deathtrap ever involving a teddy bear.
2. One for the Innuendo Squad.
3. Slash? What slash? Nothing to see here.
4. The X-Men Relationship Diagram. Always good for a laugh. Wolverine looks like Euston Station...
5. Two different versions of the Summers family tree. For when you are tired of your brain and want to melt it.

As you know, I was much impressed by CoE and have no issues with Great Art Being Depressing. I too, however, have been visited by an overpowering urge to read a lot of P. G. Wodehouse or something. Everything is better with Squirrel Girl, of course, for which much thanks.

Since I too have felt it prudent to retreat from the Whoniverse for a space, I am a little stymied in terms of fic production. I have three TW pieces in production, but I am not sure whether anyone is feeling up to them. On a related issue, would it be accurate to say, in terms of canon, that Wulf Sternhammer's relations with women (if any) were always doomed to failure? It is important for something I am contemplating.

By the way, it must be a great sorrow to Doreen that she is in the wrong comics universe to encounter Gorilla City: "a legacy of the days when every tenth villain was a talking ape of some description, and Barry Allen knew them all". Happier times...
