I did think it was beautifully done, and I don't particularly object to art forms being depressing - I have, after all, been known to watch things like Blake's 7 and Neon Genesis Evangelion for fun. I'm just in need of a certain amount of recovery time right now, staying away from the fandom until the sobbing and ranting dies down, and taking a certain amount of refuge in sarcasm (because, yes, I cried quite a lot during Days 4 and 5).
As regards Wulf's love life: he's had a couple of canonical one-night-stands, and appears to have had groupies (for want of a better word) back in his own village, but no actual relationships as such. You know what my take on this is, but it may be relevant to your fic. If it's the one I'm thinking of, I'd love to see it.
